METROPCS CELLULAR TELEPHONE

MetroPCS Cellular Telephone, retail $TBA
Manufactured by Samsung (www.samsung.com)

This product does not emit light of its own, so the standard review format will not be used and the product will not be assigned a rating. This website is mostly about light-emitting products and test equipment I regularly use, but occasionally, you'll see non-light emitting products on it too if it's something I really like or use frequently.
(This product can indeed be used as a short-range flashlight to illuminate keyholes or to help locate dropped objects within close proximity to {near} you).

This is the Samsung cellular telephone handset. It is a fairly standard "one piece" (does not "flip open" like some handsets do) unit with its display screen and keypad on the front face of the unit.

The unit came with cellular service from MetroPCS -- a cellular telephone provider that was found in Sacramento CA. USA in summer 2006.

Use the Samsung like you might use any other cellular telephone: dial the number you want, then press the "SEND" key. When finished with the call, press the "END" key.

I don't feel like writing a book today, so you'll want to refer to the instructional materials that are furnished with the handset to read about its many other features.

The LCD screen of this telephone in "standby" mode (after you flip it open but before you dial).

In this photograph, the handset was still searching for a cellular
tower - which of course it would not find here in Federal Way WA. USA.

Audio file (.WAV format) of one of the ringtones (the one I prefer out of the several that are available on the handset). It approximates the electromechanical "ringer" of an old-style desk telephone set.

This file is ~0.0540 megabytes (55,236 bytes) in length; dial-up users please be aware.
It will take no less than fifteen seconds to download at 48.0Kbps.

Audio file (.WAV format) of the sound you get at startup.

This file is ~0.0615 megabytes (63,504 bytes) in length; dial-up users please be aware.
It will take no less than seventeen seconds to download at 48.0Kbps.

TEST NOTES:
Cellular telephone handset was purchased in mid-2006 in Sacramento CA. USA.

It is not known where this product was made.
A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I wanted to publish it on this web page.

UPDATE: 09-24-11
I found the instructional material while I was packing a suitcase yesterday; this is a Samsung Spex cellular handset.
This particular model appears now to be obsolete, so the "" icon will now be appended to its listings on this website.
