(IMPORTANT!!!)
I've had this for quite a few years now, that's why it does not look brand spanken new in the above photograph!!!

This product does not emit light of its own, so the standard review format will not be used and the product will not be assigned a rating.

This is the Panasonic SL-SX320 Portable CD Player; it is a circular CD player that's hardly larger in diameter than the discs it plays.

It comes in a plastic case, and feeds from two AA cells that you supply yourself.

It has the usual suite of CD controls: play, pause, fast forward, and rewind. In addition to that, it has a 40-second "anti-skip" feature -- this helps to ensure that your music plays uninterrupted if the unit is sharply bumped, jostled, or otherwise manhandled.
It also has three selections of equaliser-type settings: XBS (extra bass), live performance, and normal EQ.

The frequency response appears to be decent; but this is more heavily influenced by the transducer (the sound-reproducing system -- the earphones in this instance); however, most CD players will have similar audio characteristics in this case.

FWIW: This is model number SL-SX320.
It appears to be obsolete now, as it was not found on the Panasonic website and was not found offered for sale at other common web vendors.

To use this CD player, install batteries in it first (see directly below), and *THEN* you'll be able to blow your eardrums out with that horrible, horrible music you're always listening to.

On the edge of the unit near the buttons, you'll see a little grey slider. Slide it toward the front of the unit -- the unit should now spring open.

Place a CD in, shiny side-down. Press the disc at its center so that it snaps onto the hub in the center of the CD compartment, and close the unit gently until it snaps shut.

Press the upper right button on the top of the unit to start playback.

The two lowermost buttons on the top of the unit control the volume: press & hold the rightmost one to increase the volume (from 0 to 25). Press and hold the leftmost one to decrease the volume (again, 0 to 25).

On the top surface of the unit at the right edge, you'll see three black buttons: "MEMORY", "MODE", and "EQ".
Press the EQ button to select from "S-XBS" (boosts bass response), "LIVE" (simulates the sound of a live concert venue) or "" (nothing is displayed on the LCD -- this gives a flat equalisation response).

Press the "MODE" button to select from continuous playback of the song currently playing, continuous playback of the entire CD, "RANDOM" in which the CD player picks a track (song) from the CD at random, or "RANDOM LOOP" in which the CD player picks tracks (songs) from the CD at random.

I don't know exactly what the button labelled "MEMORY" does, so I can offer no additional information about it.

To change the track (song) playing, press & release one of the two center buttons: the rightmost one increments the track while the leftmost one decrements it.

For fast-forward or rewind on the song that's currently playing, press & HOLD DOWN the same buttons.

To pause the unit (such as to answer somebody who's summoning you), press & release the "Play" button; press & release it again to resume playback right where you left off.

To stop playback, press & release the upper left button. And to turn the unit completely off, press & release the same button again.

To change the CD, just follow these simple instructions:

On the edge of the unit near the buttons, you'll see a little grey slider. Slide it toward the front of the unit -- the unit should now spring open.

Grasp the CD that's in the unit by its edges, and lift it straight up. It should easily pop off the central hub. Put the CD back in its jewel case or the little paper sleeve it came in -- this helps to protect it from fingerprints, dirt, and scratches.

Place a new CD in, shiny side-down. Press the disc at its center so that it snaps onto the hub in the center of the CD compartment, and close the unit gently until it snaps shut.

To change the AA cells when necessary, open the CD door as if changing discs. Remove the CD if necessary.

You'll see a battery door; unclip & swing it up (it's captive and on a hinge so that it cannot fall off and become lost).

Remove the two used AA cells from the compartment, and dispose of or recycle them as you see fit.

Insert two new AA cells into the compartment, orienting them according to the polarity legend embossed into the bottom of the compartment.

Swing the battery door back down, and place the CD back in if you removed one prior to performing the battery change.

There is a receptacle for a "wall wart" power supply on the left edge of the unit's body; it is rated for an input voltage of +4.50 volts; center wis (+) positive, outer can is (-) negative.

This is a portable CD player, not a flashlight designed to be thrashed, trashed, and abused. So I won't throw it against the wall, stomp on it, try to drown it in the toylet bowl or the cistern, run over it, swing it against the concrete floor of a patio, use a ball peen hammer in order to bash it open to check it for candiosity, fire it from the cannoņata, drop it down the top of Mt. Erupto (I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piņata" too much again - candiosity is usually checked with a laser-type device on a platform with a large readout (located at Piņata Central aka. Party Central), with a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or with a pack-of-cards-sized device that Fergy Fudgehog uses; the cannoņata (also located at Piņata Central) is only used to shoot piņatas to piņata parties away from picturesque Piņata Island, and Mt. Erupto is an active volcano on Piņata Island {In the episode "Les Saves the Day...Again", Paulie Preztail says "Hey, ever wonder why this park's called 'Mount Erupto' anyway?", then Franklin Fizzlybear says "I think its an old native term. Means 'very safe.'"}), send it to the Daystrom Institute for additional analysis, or inflict upon it punishments that flashlights may have inflicted upon them.

In fact, that video you see below will probably be about it.

YourTube video allowing you to hear & see the CD player playing a song.
The song "Big Fat" by Anthrax was used for this video.
As you might be able to tell from this (and other products for which audio plays a role), I'm a metalhead.

This clip is approximately 48.0090673423 megabytes (48,262,366 bytes) in length; dial-up users please be aware.
It will take no less than two hundred forty (!!!) minutes to load at 48.0Kbps.

YourTube video allowing you to hear & see the CD player playing a song - it skips a number of times here.
The song "She Blinded Me with Science" by Thomas Dolby was used for this video.

This clip is approximately 35.7774569962 megabytes (35,933,444 bytes) in length; dial-up users please be aware.
It will take no less than one hundred seventy eight (!) minutes to load at 48.0Kbps.

TEST NOTES:
Unit was purchased on Ebay in mid-2006 to replace an identical unit (also purchased on Ebay) which would no longer play certain CDs.

Product was made in Japan.
A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I published it on this web page.
