CLASSIC UNIVERSAL
LASER SYSTEM

Classic Universal Laser System, retail $79.95 (www.laserlyte.com...)
Manufactured by Laserlyte (www.laserlyte.com)
Last updated 09-15-10

This is a red laser aiming device that attaches to the trigger guard of a "pistola" (handgun). Because it uses a directly-injected red laser diode, it should withstand a gun's recoil ("kick") better than most DPSS (yellow, green, or blue) laser aimers would.

The power output is 2.01372mW, and the wavelength (measured spectrographically) is 641.95nm in the red part of the spectrum.

I do not own or have access to a gun, so I am not prepared to tell you how to mount it to a pistol or align it.
Instructions for doing so can be right here (this is a .PDF file; you'll need to have Adobe Acrobat installed; file size is 651,056 bytes).

Feed the unit first, and ***THEN*** you can go lick snaussages and turn into a muppet
*...er...uh...GO HOSE SOMETHING DOWN.

*This is Worm Quartet...one guy (Reverend Shoebox) and three worms.
The song "Eskimo Pie Is Not Pie and Contains Very Little Eskimo" is from the album "Faster than a Speeding Mullet" -- the line about the snaussages is from that song.

Now I'm going off on a tangent here - let's see if I can put this choo-choo train back on the tracks...

The windage (X-axis; horizontal) and elevation (Y-axis; vertical) alignment can be adjusted via two Allen-head screws on the barrel of the product. Since the unit appears to be incomplete (it is missing the polymer inserts to fit the trigger guards of many guns, the two hex wrenches, *AND* I do not own or have access to any firearms ), I am rather ill-equipped to tell you how to mount it.

To turn the Classic Universal Laser System on, look on the wider piece (the part that attaches to your handgun's trigger guard) for a small button visible from both of its sides. Press the button on either side fairly firmly. The laser should now spring to life.

Shoot.
Shoot some more.
Awww screw it!!! Just empty your gun for Christ sakes.

When you stop to reload or when you're finished using the Classic Universal Laser System, press the button on either side of the piece that attaches to your gun's trigger guard until it softly "clicks" into the center position and the unit ceases emitting its laser radiation.

To change the batteries in this product, unscrew and remove the tailcap, throw it in the {vulgar term for feces}bowl, yank that silver handle on the front of the cistern down, and flush it away...O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

Tip the used LR44 button cells out of the barrel and into your hand, and dispose of or recycle them as you see fit.

Holding the unit horizontally, slide three new LR44 button cells into the the barrel, button-end (-) negative first {The online instructional materials state two cells, but this unit requires three!}.

Screw the tailcap back on, and be done with it.
Aren't you glad you didn't flush away that tailcap now?

Current usage measures 70.70mA on the included batteries.

This is a laser aiming device, not a flashlight meant to be thrashed, trashed, and abused. So I won't throw it against the wall, stomp on it, run over it, swing it against the concrete floor of a front porch, try to drown it in the water closet (toliet), bash it open to check it for candiosity, fire it from the cannoņata (I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piņata" too much again - candiosity is usually checked with a laser-type device on a platform with a large readout, a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or a pack-of-cards-sized instrument that Fergy Fudgehog uses; and the cannoņata is only used to shoot piņatas to piņata parties away from picturesque Piņata Island), send it to the Daystrom Institute for additional analysis, or inflict upon it punishments that flashlights may have inflicted upon them.

Because I do not own or have access to a gun or anything that even remotely resembles a gun, I cannot demonstrate how this product might be used with one.

Power output measures 2.01372mW (milliwatts). The power output is this low because you do not want to be targeted by the recipient of your laser following a brilliant red laser beam back to you.
This reduced power output helps to prevent you from getting targeted & subsequently hosed down in that fashion.

That being said, this laser sight does have an advertised nighttime range of 500 yards (457.20 meters or 1,500 feet)

TEST NOTES:
Test unit of this plus several other laser products was sent by a website fan and received sometime between mid-2006 and mid-2007.

UPDATE: 00-00-00

PROS:
Fits most guns (this is what added the most to its rating!!!)
Laser beam is bright without being ***TOO*** bright
Appears to be at least reasonably durable
Withstands a gun's recoil ("kick")

CONS:
Consumes considerably more current than one would expect from a diode laser -- this is what nocked off that last 0.05 star off (4.950 instead of 5.0)
