Unload Monitor Tool, retail $ (As far as I can determine, no longer being sold)
Manufactured by AM International (URL not known)

Since this product is no longer being manufactured, and I know quite little about it or even how to properly use it, this web page will consist of little more than four photographs and three spectrographic analyses.
The Unload Monitor Tool is an instrument of about the same size and dimensions of a common logic probe. It is (was?) used to diagnose trouble with hard disk drives in computers (I made that determination by looking at the list of error codes printed on the reverse side of the instrument!)...here, let's just show you with a photograph...*snap*...*CLICK!***...and it's off to the Fotomat I go:
As you can see, it is intended to be powered with (and used on) the computer's +5 volt supply; the instrument is equipped with insulated alligator clips, codes red & black. As usual, red goes to the positive (+) 5 volt line, and black goes to the negative (-). The probe tip voltage range is -5 volts to +5 volts -- no more. So it is designed ***SPECIFICALLY*** to be used with TTL circuitry.

Photograph of the instrument showing all LEDs illuminated.
The LED at the far left is shown with both its red & green dice illuminated simultaneously.
Spectrographic analysis of one of the tricolor LEDs in this instrument (red die).
Spectrometer's response was extended to 850nm
in the NIR to show the unusually broad emission "hump".
Spectrographic analysis of one of the tricolor LEDs in this instrument (yellow-green die).
Spectrographic analysis of one of the tricolor LEDs in this instrument (both red & yellow-green dice).
USB2000 spectrometer graciously donated by P.L.
TEST NOTES:
Test unit was sent by F.G. along with a large quantity of vintage LEDs many years ago -- possibly as early as 2002.
