MEMORIAL FOR THOR'S
CAT SNEAKERS

Last updated 04-20-13

This kitty cat does not emit light of its own (it was a cat for Christ sakes!!!), so the standard review format will not be used and the kitty will not be assigned a rating. This page will contain mainly just two photographs and some text (as of 04-20-13).

This cute little bundle of joy, Sneakers was owned by Thor on the Commercials I Hate BBS.

Thor loved the living tweedle out of his little fuzzbomb!!!

I say "was" and "loved" here because he passed over the Rainbow Bridge on 04-17-13.

Thor said (and I quote):

(From 04-17-13)

This morning at around 5:30, when I went downstairs to feed him, he was sitting up awaiting me as usual. But he had no interest in his food. Then he walked over to a spot in the living room and crouched down, facing the wall. I knew he wasn't right. So, I picked him up and brought him upstairs to my computer room and held him for about a half-hour. When I went to put him on the floor, he just laid down. I knew he was dying. I went across the street to get his original owner, and he came over. I laid him down on some blankets on the couch where we rubbed his face, talked to him, and waited for him to die.

He finally died at 10:30am. It was all pretty peaceful. Some erratic breathing and some nerve twitches, but totally calm, otherwise. I really couldn't have asked for a better way for it to happen. I'm also glad he waited till I got up, so that I could be with him.

Oddly, the last few days, he'd started coming upstairs to be with me whenever I came up here. He hadn't come up the stairs since maybe last June, as he'd gotten thin and rickety over the past year or so. But for the last few days, when I came up here, he'd show up. I had a feeling things were changing for him, and that he knew it.

Anyway, a brief history. He really belonged to this guy Ken, across the street. At the time, Ken had a dog and 5 cats. Around 2006, when Ken got another dog, a very rambunctious puppy, Sneakers started getting fed up. He began visiting me here every day. Then, one morning, I came downstairs and found him sleeping on my couch. I knew that was it. He was here to stay. I really had no say in the matter, and short of keeping him inside, neither did Ken. He's been mine ever since

Anyway, I loved that he decided to move in, though my Mal wouldn't agree. I loved him and will miss him terribly.

This was Sneakers in the garden.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge...

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...
