The Elektrolumens 5W cyan LS mod comes in a 5-D Maglite body. The black Maglite body goes well with the cyan Luxeon Star, if you're into having everything color coordinated.
SIZE
Use the Elektrolumens 5W cyan LS mod as you would use a large Mag Lite, because it was built using the Mag's body.
Press the rubberized pushbutton on the barrel of the light until it clicks to get cyan light, and press it again the same way to not get light. You can also press it partway in to get momentary operation, if you just need to flash it quickly at something or someone.
Light uses 870mA with the 5 Duracell D cells it came with.
To change the batteries, unscrew & remove the tailcap, and set it aside. Dump the dead batteries in the container of your choosing (I suggest using a wastepaperbasket or garbage can, not a toilet bowl as some of you may think).
Insert five new D cells into the barrel, button side (+) first. Replace the tailcap by screwing it on.
Because this light is a loaner and its owner wants it back intact, I won't throw it in the toilet (it would probably break the bowl anyway, and I don't have the $$$ to have the s***bowl replaced!), stomp on it, throw it, or run over it with a 400lb electric wheelchair. But it is built in a Mag body, so it's at least reasonably tough, and water resistant enough to withstand a bit of rain.
The Elektrolumens 5W cyan LS LED is surrounded by what appears to be a short length of copper tubing or pipe, and what appears to be a NX01 Luxeon Star optic is set into the end of it. The copper tubing probably helps to heatsink the LED and it holds the optic in place, so you should not try to remove it.
Beam photo at ~12".
Measured 610,000mcd with a Meterman LM631 light meter.
Beam is wider than many LED flashlights.
Remember, wider viewing angles mean lower mcd numbers.
