Battery-powered LED Halloween Lights, retail $3.99*
Manufactured by (Unknown) for Wallgreens (www.wallgreens.com)
Last updated 10-31-12

These light sets are being sold as "Ultra LED" at Wallgreens stores; these sets were found in a Wallgreens store in the central-eastern part of the United States (the state of Ohio, to be specific) in early-October 2007 for ~$3.33 each.

The light sets contain 10 (ten) 3mm LEDs, powered by two AA cells inside a battery pack.

They can be set to all operate continuously or be operated in "twinkle mode", where the lamps alternately flash on and off at ~2Hz (approximately 2 flashes per second).

Total lighted length is advertised as 6 feet.

* Price is advertised as "3 for $10.00 or $3.99 each".

 SIZE

Feed the lights first (see directly below), and then you can go decorate that porch.

String these up as you would oridinary (corded) seasonal lights, but handle them carefully because the wires are considerably thinner than the wires are on corded sets. Hang them on porches, mantles, doorways, or other places where you might normally hang light sets.

To turn them on in alternate flash mode, slide that little black switch on the upper-right side of the battery box toward the "on" legend; stop when the switch is at the center position.

To turn them on in steady-on mode, slide that little black switch more toward the "on" legend until it stops.

To turn them off, slide the switch to the "off" position (toward the center of the battery box).

To change the batteries, slide the battery door off in the direction of the embossed label on it, and throw it into a graveyard full of rotting stinky zombies so that they become upset at it and stomp on or even whip out their {vulgar slang term for multiple male tallywhackers; seven letters, starts with "p" and ends with "s", rhymes with "wreckers"} and uranate on it...O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

If necessary, remove and dispose of or recycle the 2 used AA cells from the compartment.

Insert two new AA cells in the compartment, orienting each cell so its flat-end (-) negative faces a spring for it in each chamber.

Slide the battery door back on, and be done with it.
Aren't you glad you didn't huck that battery door into the graveyard with all those stinky zombies with full bladders now?

Advertised battery life is "150 hours" - this is probably in twinkle mode.

These light sets appear at least *reasonably* durable, in that they should not just fall apart on their own or through just casual handling.

This product is meant to be used as a Halloween light string in a dry area, not as a flashlight meant to be carried around, thrashed, used, and abused; so I won't try to flush them down the toilet, bash them against the concrete floor of a patio or a steel rod, let my housemate's kitty cats go to the bathroom on them, run over them with a 450lb Celebrity (motorised wheelchair), or perform other indecencies that a regular flashlight might have to go through.

The LEDs aren't dome-shaped like you'd expect; instead, the lenses on them have a reverse conical shape moulded into them - this helps the lights to be visible at much greater viewing angles than a standard dome-shaped LED would allow.

Photograph of the set, illuminated of course.

Set hung up on some of my "Viva Piņata" posters.
