If you have a tracklight fixture that uses MR-16 bulbs and you're tired of always changing them, then the Enerleds e-Bulb is just what the doctor ordered!
Housed in a sturdy metal and plastic case, the Enerleds e-Bulb features a Luxeon Star emitter and a custom-made optic to project its beam; you can just plug one of these into any 12V AC or DC MR-16 fixture and forget about it.
Just take the Enerleds e-Bulb out of the box and plug it into the bipin socket your original MR-16 bulb used. Simple as that. As the box says, "Fit & Forget".
Since this product doesn't use batteries, this section will be skipped.
There appears to be a full-wave bridge rectifier in the e-Bulb, as it lit up regardless of the polarity of the test leads.
A regular LED would not do this; and may even become damaged by AC. You don't have to worry about this with the e-Bulb though, since it doesn't matter what polarity your fixture uses, or even if it puts out AC instead of DC.
There is a printed warning on the bulb base: "NOT DIMMABLE". This is quite normal for LED-based lamps though, and no points will be deducted from its rating because of this.
Information will be added to this section as testing progresses.
Beam photo at ~12".
Tested unit draws 250mA at 12.13 volts DC.
Measured 320,000mcd on a Meterman LM631.

TEST NOTES:
Sample was received around 06-20-03 and is in the earliest stages of testing. I had to go to Rat Shack for some test leads and micro clips because I don't have an MR-16 socket anywhere.
According to tbe package, the Enerleds e-Bulb comes in daylight, warm white, red, amber, green, blue, and royal blue. The website also says they come in cyan.
The model I'm testing today is the warm white.
Packaging claims a greater than 50,000 hour life. It also shows the light has a 20° beam, needs 12 volts AC or DC, uses 350mA of current (tested unit used 250mA at 12.1VDC), is 50mm diameter (at the head?); and has "GU 5.3" printed on it.
Lamp MUST NOT be used on a household dimmer circuit, or it might let out its supply of magic smoke. Only a specially controlled DC power supply can be used to dim one of these.
You can buy these lamps at various places: scroll down this page to see a listing.
