The Super Tiger is a large, 9-LED flashlight that uses three D cells for power. It comes in an anodized aluminum case, available in at least two colors: red, and silver tone.

When I first saw "Super Tiger" on the package, for some reason I immediately thought of "Super Cobra", an arcade videogame that Stern Electronics made in the early 1980s. But this flashlight doesn't look or work anything like a helicopter, so I banished that thought as soon as I could.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Four other flashlights are also named the Super Tiger. One uses two AAA cells and has three LEDs in its business-end; another uses two AA cells and has four LEDs; another uses two AA cells and has an incandescent light bulb in it, and another uses three AA cells and has six LEDs. Please do not confuse them with this Super Tiger.

To use the Super Cobra - I mean Super Tiger, first remove it from its package. A knife or scissors to cut the package down one side should do the trick. Insert three D cells into it (see below), and then you can go to town.

To get momentary light, press the rubberised button on the barrel in partway to get light, and release it to not get light.

For continuous light, press the button more firmly until it clicks, then release it. The light will come on and stay on until you press the button and release it the same way again.



To change the batteries in your Super Tiger, unscrew the tailcap, and set it aside. Tip the open end of the barrel over a garbage can or recycle bin, and allow the three dead batteries to empty themselves into it. Slide three new D cells into the barrel, button (+) positive end first, then screw the tailcap back on.

Measures 349mA (38.78mA per LED) on the DMMs 2A scale.
So the LEDs are overdriven, but not horribly so.

The Super Tiger appears to be reasonably durable, but it isn't entirely waterproof. When the flashlight was relieved of its batteries and then suctioned, air leaked in at least through the switch, and probably a bit through the bezel too. So try not to drop the Super Tiger into a creek, river, pond, lake, oceanside, puddle of bear pee, snowbank, puddle, or other water or water-like liquids.
It should be weather-resistant though, so I don't think you need to be concerned with using it in the rain or snow.

The Super Tiger has knurling (texturising) on the barrel, longitudinal ridges on the head, and smaller longitudinal ridges on the tailcap. So, retention (the ability to hold onto the flashlight when your hands are cold, wet, or oily) should not be a problem.

Durability seems to be more than adequate; I slammed the barrel against a steel rod 5 times and the head another 5 times, and found no damage whatsoever, and the Super Cobr--er--Tiger continues to function like new.

The window on the end is recessed, so you can set the flashlight down face-first and not cause any damage to it.

There is a stern warning on the package telling you that if you try to remove the bezel without removing the lens retaining ring first, you'll rip the wires off the LED board. You should adhere to (follow) this warning; you don't want to break the wires connecting the LED board to the rest of the flashlight.
