NEW "TRANSSPECTRAL" MODIFICATION
This is another page full of pictures... please allow plenty of load time.

Magazine article
This is from the June 2002 issue of Mobility Management magazine. The editor came across my website (apparently one of the only ones showing wheelchairs and scooters modified by their owners) and decided to write a full-page article. Thanks guys!

Torn apart
The poor Rascal in pieces all over my living room floor. Time to start cutting out some blue LEDs.

Back together
Sewing the scooter back together. Notice there's still a bad bulb - it is behind a structural piece and could not be changed without the new one becoming broken almost immediately.

Finito
The new "Gay Pride Lights" are ready.
The camera did not render the LED colors properly, but it's basically the whole
spectrum on each side of the scooter, starting in the middle and going outwards
to both sides: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and violet.

Also notice the basket mod I did to the seatback. I installed this for when I run my scooter in its powerchair configuration, as it has no easily accessible basket in that configuration. This mod places the basket where I can easily twist around and drop my groceries or whatever into it without having to struggle with the set-up procedure needed for the regular rear basket, which is almost impossible to do while seated.

Transpectral lighting array
This is another look at the orioginal "transspectral illuminator" I installed on the tiller.
The LEDs are connected to a pseudo-random flasher, so not all are on in this picture.

lights
Here's a more recent picture after I added a second bank
of LEDs to fill in the gaps in the spectrum. Time exposure.

IMPORTANT: If you have an Electric Mobility scooter with 10" pneumatic (air-filled) tires on plastic rims, these tire assemblies are under recall, and new tires with aluminum mag rims are available free of charge under this recall.
The picture below shows one of the new tire assemblies. The flashlight being run over in this photo is not included; please do not expect to receive one. ;-)

New EMC 10 inch Tire Assembly

The tire assemblies with the plastic rims are being recalled because the plastic rim can break and fly apart with substantial force while you're putting air in the tire, presenting a risk of injury to the user.
Please call Electric Mobility customer service at 1-800-257-7955 if you have the recalled wheels on your Rascal.
