The Diamond LED Replacement Bulb is designed to replace the incandescent bulb in your 3-C or 3-D Mag-Lite. Instead of a fragile filament that glows white hot, the Diamond has a 3 watt white Luxeon LED to produce its light.

Although some heat is generated by the Diamond, it is considerably less than the heat produced by the incandescent bulb.

 SIZE

The Diamond comes in a jewel-type, transparent plastic case with a soft, black velvet floor. Open the case, and remove the Diamond.

Unscrew and remove the lens ring on your Mag-Lite, and throw it away...O WAIT, YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.
Remove the reflector, and put it somewhere where it will not fall to the floor and get stepped on.

Unscrew and remove the metal collar around the bulb, and put it in a drawer or something so you don't lose it. Remove the old bulb, and STOMP ON IT!!! Or just put it in the same drawer as the collar if you're adverse to breaking things.

Screw the Diamond into the Mag-Lite's receptacle until it stops turning. Place the bezel back on your Mag-Lite, and screw it down until it stops. There, done with that. :-)
Aren't you glad you didn't throw that bezel out now? ;-)

To turn the light on, press the rubberised button on the barrel until it clicks, then release it. To turn the light back off, press and release the button the same way again.

For momentary (signalling) mode, press the button more lightly - before it clicks - and hold it that way for as long as you need light. Release the button to turn the light back off.

Change the batteries like you would any 3-C or 3-D Mag.
Unscrew and remove the tailcap, and relieve the flashlight of its expired batteries. Dispose of or recycle them as you see fit.

Insert three new batteries, button-end (+) positive first into the flashlight barrel. Screw the tailcap back on, and be done with it.

This bulb is designed specifically to be installed in 3 cell Mag-Lites, using C or D cells. Installation in a Mag with 4 or more cells will probably blow it up, and installation in a 2 cell Mag will probably result in greatly reduced light output.

Measures 572mA on the set of cells that were in the flashlight. These cells have unknown prior usage on them; the current and light intensity will be remeasured when I have the money to buy new cells with.

The Mag-Lite is a reasonably durable instrument in and of itself. One of the most common failure modes - the incandescent light bulb blowing out or developing this useless, ring-shaped beam when the flashlight is dropped - is eliminated when you replace the bulb with a Diamond.

The beam that comes out of the Diamond is pure white, with no yellow, blue, purple, or "rotten cat urine green" tint to it.

The Diamond comes in a sturdy aluminum body; this should help considerably with heatsinking vs. the original Diamond bulb.

Beam photograph at ~12".
Measures 535,000mcd on a Meterman LM631 light meter.
