The Tekna Splash-Lite LS is Tektite's newest entry in the ever-growing flashlight market.

The Splash-Lite LS comes in a sturdy ABS plastic body, featuring a 1.2 watt SE (Side Emitting) Luxeon Star LED in its business-end to produce its light (using Tektite's new LS-233 replacement bulb), and a CR123A lithium cell in its body to power that LED.

It is waterproof, weatherproof, and submersible to 100' (30m), so you need not be concerned about using the Splash-Lite LS in foul weather or around water.

 SIZE

The Splash-Lite LS comes ready to use. If the included battery is not installed when you receive your Splash-Lite, install it first (see directly below), and then you'll be ready to rock.

To turn your Splash-Lite LS on, turn the bezel (head) clockwise until it comes on. Turn the bezel counterclockwise to turn your Splash-Lite LS back off. Yes, that really is it.

There is no momentary or signalling mode available in the Splash-Lite LS, so please do not look for or expect to find one. You *can* blink the Splash-Lite LS by turning the bezel *just* until the flashlight goes out, then pushing down or sideways on the bezel, but I do not know how reliable this method is, so I can make no guarantees here.

To change the battery in your Splash-Lite LS, unscrew and remove the bezel, throw it to the floor, and stomp on it with old or well-used bowling shoes...O WAIT!!! THAT'S THE GOOD PART!!! So just set it aside instead.

Tip the used CR123A cell out of the barrel and into your hand, and dispose of or recycle it as you see fit.

Insert a new CR123A cell into the barrel, orienting it so the button-end (+) positive faces up (where you can see the button when you look into the open end of the barrel).

Screw the bezel back on, and unscrew it slightly when your flashlight springs to life.
Aren't you glad you didn't stomp on that bezel now?

The Splash-Lite LS appears to be reasonably durable. I gave it my "new and improved" whack test: ten whacks against a concrete sidewalk (five against the tail, and five against the bezel), and only found some very minor scuffing on the side of the bezel where it was struck.
No optical, electrical, or structural damage was found. And I had to use another flashlight in order to even find the very minor scuffing on the side of the Splash-Lite LS's bezel.

It is weatherproof, waterproof, and even dive-rated submersible to 100 feet (30 meters). So you need not be afraid to use it in extremely bad weather. If the dog lifts his leg on the Splash-Lite LS, just take the garden hose to it...good as new! And if it somehow falls or gets knocked in the toilet, just douche it off under the bathroom faucet...good as new!!!

An O-ring on the top of the threaded portion of the bezel (head) seals out water, mud, pee, and other nasties.

The light that comes out of the Splash-Lite LS is a bit dimmer than I expected, but it's NOT useless by any means. NOT BY ANY MEANS!!!

There is a small metal split ring affixed to a keyring lug built into the tail. You can use this ring to affix the Splash-Lite LS to a keychain or lanyard of your choosing. A lanyard is not included, so if you wish to use one, you'll have to procure it elsewhere.

UPDATE: 00-00-00

PROS:
Small, pocketable size
Durable construction
Water-resistant and submersible to 100 feet
Bright enough to be truly useful
Battery life should be long

CONS:
Beam is a bit spotty
Battery it uses could be expensive or difficult to locate
Could be brighter - but the Splash-Lite is intended to be a survival light - will not figure into my rating
