The GU10-230V is an LED replacement lamp to use in track lighting in place of the halogen incandescent light blubs normally used in these fixtures.

This lamp comes in an all-glass "bulb", and uses a special bi-pin GU10 base. The model I'm testing for you today uses 230 volts AC, so those living outside the United States and Canada should be able to use this lamp with no transformers or adapters; only a receptacle equipped with a female GU10 receptacle.

I purchased a special 110 volts AC to 220 volts AC transformer specifically to test this bulb with; I now have it at my disposal to test other European products that require 220 volts to 230 volts AC at up to 500 watts.

 SIZE

To use this lamp, just install it in any light fixture you have that has a female GU10 receptacle in it.
Then, to borrow a phrase from a TV commercial, "plug it in, plug it in!

Because this product is line-powered, this section can and will be skipped.

Note the *VERY SAFE* way (cough, sputter, sound of a wall-mounted porcelain urinator flushing!) this lamp was connected to the power supply. There are 220 FRICKIN' VOLTS flowing through this connection. Even though the power supply is fused, no stinkin' little glass fuse would prevent me from getting my ass zapped and being thrown across the room if I happened to latch onto a bare wire.
Therefore, I recommend you *DO NOT* make your installation in this manner.

This bulb is made primarily of glass with a porcelain or ceramic ring just above the GU10 base. So it CAN become broken if dropped, thrown, or otherwise abused.
Handle it as you would an ordinary household light bulb, and it shouldn't give you any guff.

Since this bulb was meant to be installed in a light receptacle and not abused, I won't whap it against a steel rod or against the concrete floor of a patio, try to drown it in a toilet bowl, stomp on it, run over it, or inflict other punishments upon it that might be inflicted upon regular flashlights. So this section of the web page will be significantly shorter than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

***DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!!!*** DO NOT under any circumstances install this bulb into a fixture controlled by a dimmer switch, whether that switch is on the wall or on the fixture itself. It WILL fail fairly quickly, and possibly quite spectacularly so, if this is done.
You don't want rats or yellowjackets...I mean...you don't want an unwanted fire.

The beam that comes out of this bulb is a very slightly bluish-white, and shows no rings, blotches, or other artifacts that might be present in a product using a much lesser number of LEDs.

The beam produced is a medium spot with a soft fall-off at its perimeter. Use this lamp where you desire a soft spot, not where a flood or wash might be desired.

Beam photograph on the test target at 12".
Measures 121,600mcd (220 volts and 39,600mcd (110 volts).
Both measurements were taken on a Meterman LM631 light meter.
