This is an almost all-aluminum flashlight that uses a 3 watt Luxeon Star LED (driven to close to one watt levels) and an included pair of CR123A lithium camera batteries to power it. It has a high-dome ("Lambertian") LED.

The flashlight has a finely-grooved aluminum finish on it, and it's pretty to look at whether it's on or off.

The flashlight comes ready to use right out of the package, as it comes with the batteries included and already installed.

Press the rubberised tailcap button until it clicks and then release your finger and the flashlight will come on. Press and release it the same way again to turn the flashlight off.

There is no momentary or "signalling" mode available when the flashlight is off; however you can blink the light while it is already on by partially depressing the button. If you don't mind the "backwards" feel, you can blink the light this way.



To change the batteries, unscrew and remove the tailcap, gently place it on the ground, look at it all funny, cock your head like a puppy that doesn't understand what it had just been told, and kick it into the garden so the hungry, hungry praying mantids will think it's something to eat and subsequently strike at it...O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

Tip the dead CR123A cells out of the barrel, and dispose of or recycle them as you see fit.

Insert two new CR123A cells in the barrel, button (+) positive end first, then screw the tailcap back on.
Aren't you glad you didn't kick that tailcap into the garden with all those hungry, hungry praying mantids now?

Current consumption measures 322mA on the DMM's 2A scale.

This is a very nice, somewhat futuristic looking flashlight; with a finely grooved aluminum finish. So you need not be ashamed to admit you have one of these, or even whip it out near somebody. I hate to have to do "The Smack Test" and deface such a nice looking flashlight; but I must do so in the name of science...so I administered that test (ten whacks against the corner of a concrete stair; five whacks against the side of the tailcap and five whacks against the side of the bezel), and found the expected damage. There is some minor gouging on the sides of the tailcap and bezel where it was struck. No optical or electrical malfunctions were detected.

Water resistance should not be much of an issue. When I relieved the flashlight of its batteries and then suctioned it, there was no leakage. I even suctioned the tailcap, and obtained the same results. So I'm confident it won't leak when used in the rain or snow, or if it's dropped into shallow water like mud puddles or creeks. If it falls into shallow water, just fish it out, shake it off, and keep going.

The light emitted by this flashlight is a very pure, slightly cool white, with no red, pink, yellow, blue, purple, or "rotten octopus urine green" tint to it. Not in the hotspot, not in the corona either.
