The Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight is well... an LED flashlight. A bright LED flashlight perhaps, but still an LED flashlight.

It comes in an aluminum alloy body, has a Cree XRE high-powered white LED near the bottom of a mirror-smooth reflector, and feeds that LED from four lithium AAA cells - which are included so that you do not have to go back out and purchase some before you can use the product.

The intensity of the E2 Lithium LED Flashlight is adjustable with a single button interface; it doesn't just have two or three levels, but *DOZENS* of levels ranging from low (~190,000mcd) to high (1,670,000mcd).

To use the Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight, feed it the included set of lithium AAA cells first (see directly below), and THEN you can go see what's making that squeaky noise under the lavatory.

Press & release the generously-sized grey rubber button on the tailcap to turn the E2 Lithium LED Flashlight on in "high" mode, and press & release it again to turn it off.

To access one of the many intensity levels, first turn the product on. Press & hold the tailcap button to begin dimming the flashlight; when it reaches the intensity you want, release it.

If you keep holding the button down, the flashlight will blink and then start to slowly increase in intensity. If you keep holding the button down at this point, the flashlight will blink when it reaches maximum intensity and then start decreasing in intensity.

Whenever the flashlight is activated (from "off"), it always starts at maximum intensity.

This single pushbutton switch used to access all of the intensity settings is called an IQ Switch®; made by Azoteq (Pty) Ltd. at www.azoteq.co.za.
They make the IQ Switch for the Mini Mag; which I evaluated at this link.



To change the batteries in the Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight, unscrew & remove the tailcap, carefully toss it to the opposing pitcher at a Seattle Mariners game, allow him to pitch it to the Mariners batter currently at bat, and let the batter smack it out of the park with the basses loaded so that Mariners play-by-play announcer Dave Niehaus exclaims "Get out the rye bread and mustard grandma!!! It is grand salami time!!!"
* O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

Tip the barrel into your hand to remove the battery carriage, if necessary remove the four used AAA cells from it, and dispose of or recycle them as you see fit.

Insert four new AAA cells into the battery carriage, orienting them as shown next to each compartment (DO NOT INSERT THEM SO THAT THEIR FLAT-ENDS (-) NEGATIVES EACH FACE A SPRING - THAT DOESN'T WORK HERE!!!).
The manufacturer recommends that you use lithium AAA cells; however I believe it is kosher to use alkalines if lithiums aren't handy.

Insert the now-full battery carriage back into the barrel, orienting it so that the end with the two small brass contacts on it goes in first; rotating (turning) the carriage as necessary until it slides all the way inside the barrel.

Screw the tailcap firmly back on, and be done with it.
Aren't you glad you didn't let a Mariners player hit that tailcap out of the park now?

Unable to measure current usage due to how the flashlight was constructed.



The Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight comes in a metal body that won't mind you abusing it; but this flashlight is a loaner and I'm sure its owner would appreciate receiving it back with no dings in the bezel or yukky old toliet water or desiccated (dried-up) rat pellets in the barrel. So I won't throw it against the wall, stomp on it, try to drown it in the {vulgar term for feces}bowl or the cistern, run over it with a 450 pound electric wheelchair, bash it against a steel rod or against the concrete floor of a front porch in effort to try and expose the bare Metalsalomon - er - the bare Metalgatomon - um that's not it either...the bare Metalangewomon...er...uh...wait a sec here...THE BARE METAL (guess I've been watching too much Digimon again! - now I'm just making {vulgar term for poo-poo} up!!!), use a medium ball peen hammer to bash it open in order to check it for candiosity, fire it from the cannoñata (O NOOOO!!! Now I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piñata" too much again!!! - candiosity is usually checked with a laser-type device on a platform with a large readout (located at Piñata Central), a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or a pack-of-cards-sized instrument that Fergy Fudgehog uses; and the cannoñata (also located at Piñata Central) is only used to shoot piñatas to piñata parties away from picturesque Piñata Island), send it to the Daystrom Institute for additional analysis, shoot it into a cosmic string fragment
*, or inflict upon it punishments that a flashlight that is not a "loaner"may have inflicted upon it.

The Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight is water-resistant and even submersible to just over three feet, so water-entry/flooding is not likely to ever be an issue with it. I performed "The Suction Test" on it (this test is completely nondestructive), and the barrel held a good partial vacuum - but this is what I'd have expected on a product that's advertised as waterproof to just over three feet (1 meter).

The product has a band of elastomer (a rubber-like material) encircling its barrel, so you can "keep a grip on things" even if your hands are cold, oily, or soaked with diet Mt. Dew, coffee, milk, pee, water, etc. (if your hands really are soaked with pee, you'll want to wash both them and the flashlight as soon as practical; and hold your tallywhacker differently the next time you uranate!!! )

The Energizer E2 Lithium LED Flashlight uses PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to dim its LED; however, spectroscopy did reveal a slight but very noticeable difference in spectral power distribution between "high" and "low". This difference really isn't noticeable to the eye, but the spectrometer can see it.
