LIGHTNING LED STROBE

Lightning LED Strobe, retail $5.99 (Spirit Needle*...er...uh...Spirit HALLOWEEN**)

The Lightning LED Strobe really isn't a "STROBE light" in the truest sense of the word, but it is a nifty light designed to be used instead of candles in a Jack-O-Lantern (carved pumpkin) that causes the insides to flash in a spooky manner.

It comes in an orange, somewhat puck-shaped plastic case, and has three white LEDs that flash in sequence - these are responsible for the spooky lighting effects.

The whole rig feeds from two AAA cells that you supply yourself.

Unlike candles, there is no smoke, soot, melted wax, or fire hazard to worry about.

* There's a Digimon episode called "Spirit Needle", from season 2.
Here, let's prove that with the following screen dump & video clip:

YourTube video showing part of this episode where Arukenimon turns a control spire into a very naughty digimon.

This video is approximately 257.98887343541 megabytes (258,105,050 bytes) in length; dial-up users please be aware.
It will take no less than one thousand two hundred eighty nine (!!!) minutes to load at 48.0Kbps.

I cannot provide this video in other formats, so please do not ask.

Press and release the pushbutton switch on the top of the product to turn it on.

Press & release it the same way again to turn it off.

Turn the unit upside-down, and remove the battery door. Carry the battery door to the nearest graveyard, and huck it into an open grave so that the yucky, rotting stinky zombies find it, become angry at it, stomp on it, and possibly even uranate on it...O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

If necessary, remove and dispose of or recycle the two AAA cells from the compartment.

Insert two new AAA cells in the chamber, orienting them so the flat-end (-) negative of each cell faces the spring for it in the compartment.

Place the battery door back on, and there, all finished.
Aren't you glad that you didn't chuck that battery door into the graveyard amongst all those smelly zombies with full bladders now?

Unable to measure current usage due to how the product was constructed and how it functions.

This product is made entirely of plastic (the outer portions anyway), so "The Smack Test" would not be very appropriate.

The product is also not too water-resistant; there are no O-rings or other environmental seals visible in it. Clean it with a damp cloth before storage - that ought to be kosher with it.

It does appear durable enough that slightly manhandling it (dropping it a short distance) should not cause any harm to befall it.

TEST NOTES:
Test unit was purchased at a Spirit Halloween in Federal Way WA. USA on 10-19-09.

This product was made in China.
A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I published it on this web page.

UPDATE: 11-01-09
Product doesn't seem to be as bright as I think it should be.
And not by just a little either; I mean I think that it sould be ***MUCH*** brighter.
