This product does not emit light of its own (much like this spectrometer and this spectrometer too), so the standard review format will not be used and the product will be assigned a rating at once. A very high rating too, as it has performed absolutely flawlessly since I received it. Since I use it almost exclusively for this website, I think that it indeed deserves to be rated.

This is the Manfrotto # 390 Tripod. Its purpose is to hold still & video cameras steady, so that the photographs or video made with that camera aren't furry because of unwanted movement.

 SIZE

To use the tripod, pick up the mouning plate ("shoe"). On it you'll see a ¼" 20 threads-per-inch male screw. Locate the matching female receptacle found on the underside of many still and video cameras, and (using the little loop on the screw head) screw it in. When the screw is almost tight, rotate the plate so that it is even with the front of the camera.

The longer rod with the elongated "knob" on the end is the Y-axis (vertical tilt) control, and the thumbscrew (on the right as the rod faces you) is the X-axis (horizontal movement) control. The mounting stage (where the camera is affixed) can also be tilted up to 90° to the left (as the rod faces you) by turning the thumbscrew located just above the Y-axis controller rod.

The legs and central pole can both be extended: the legs by loosening the black "rings" on each one; the central pole by pulling out the large "tab" located on the black piece that the legs are affixed to.

This web page gives you the technical lowdown on this tripod.
