COLOR-CHANGING
STAR TREE TOPPER

Color-Changing Star Tree Topper, retail $9.99 ()
Manufactured by (Unknown)
Last updated 12-01-10

This is a color-changing Christmas tree topper in the shape of a five-pointed star (8.6" across); it features three LEDs (one red, one yellow-green, and one blue), and plugs into the end-to-end connector on your existing Christmas tree light sets.

It is made of a colorless, transparent plastic; faceted to help distribute its light, and the three colored LEDs in it fade and brighten in such a manner that the star appears to change color.

I found this at Wallgreens today (12-31-05), but could not find it on their website, so I cannot furnish a URL to you.

 SIZE

To use the star Christmas tree topper, remove it from the package it comes in, and unplug the "Try Me" battery box. Affix the included treetop accessory to the plastic protrusion on the bottom of the star. Place the star on top of your Christmas tree, and plug it in to the receptacle on the end of most Christmas light sets.

Yes, it really is as easy as that.

Since this product does not use batteries, this section is not necessary.

This product is meant to be used as a lighted Christmas tree topper, not as a flashlight meant to be carried around, thrashed, trashed, and abused; so I won't try to flush it down the toilet, bash it against a steel rod or against the corner of a concrete stair, let my housemate's kitty cat's ghost go to the bathroom on it, run over it with a 400lb Rascal, or perform other indecencies on it that a regular flashlight might have to go through.
So this section of the web page will be significantally more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

This will probably be the last web page I publish this year (2005).

Photograph of the star, illuminated of course.

This video shows the product coming back to life (changing colors like it's supposed to)....O O!!! IT WENT DOWN THE TUBE AGAIN!!! :-(
Shortly after shooting this video, it went to pot again -- only the yellow-green LED functions....hmmm now that's queer!!! I just looked down at it and it was functioning properly once more...and now it's gone back down the tube...O WAIT!!! NOW IT'S WORKING CORRECTLY AGAIN!!! Hold on...back down the tube again. :-(

TEST NOTES:
Test unit was purchased at Wallgreens on 12-31-05.
I purchased it because it has LEDs in it, and the price was reduced by 50% ($4.99).

The AC adapter has a stated output of 4.5 volts AC at 500mA.

Product was made in China. A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I published it on this web page.

UPDATE: 01-01-06
The star continues to operate properly; I just wanted to be certain that there was an update on this website for New Year's Day.

UPDATE: 11-30-10
This product went to pot while I was shooting a video of it in operation.
The yellow-green LED still fades in and out properly; however the red and blue ones have ceased functioning.

Therefore, that dreadful "Failed or was destroyed during/after testing" icon has been appended to its listings on this website, denoting the fact that this star has gone down the tube.
