HEBEI I.T. SHANGHAI CO. LTD. LEDS (5)

I received another shipment of LEDs from Hebei I.T. Shanghai Co. Ltd. on 08-25-04.
The first page is right here, the second page is right here, the third page is right here, and the fourth page is right here if you're interested.

5mm Red LED, $0.05, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L5B47HURC-D2-A
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04, tested 08-29-04)

This is a 5mm LED in a water-clear epoxy case.
The light it outputs is a very slightly orangish vivid red, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 630-635nm.

The beam that comes out of this LED consists of a squarish central hotspot, surrounded by a dimmer ring, surrounded by a brighter penumbra, surrounded by a dimmer corona.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the beam is approximately 45 to 50 wide.

Intensity is 1,260mcd at a forward current (If) of 26mA.
Remember, wider viewing angles always equal lower mcd values.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.29 volts across this LED.

5mm Red LED, $0.04, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L5T47LR1C-A
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04, tested 08-30-04)

This is a 5mm LED in a water-clear epoxy case.
The light it outputs is a vivid red, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 635-645nm.

The beam that comes out of this LED consists of a squarish central hotspot, surrounded by a dimmer penumbra, surrounded by a brighter ring, surrounded by another very dim penumbra, surrounded by a brighter outer ring, finally surrounded by a very dim corona.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the beam is approximately 10 to 12 wide.

Intensity is 2,570mcd at a forward current (If) of 26mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.43 volts across this LED.

5mm Flat Top (Lensless) Green LED, $0.33, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L5N47LPG41C-AHV
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04, tested 08-31-04)

This is a 5mm lensless LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

Here's a photograph of the LED itself, showing the dome end is truncated and flat.

The light it outputs is a very slightly whitish green, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 523-527nm.

The beam that comes out of this LED is a smooth, broad flood.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the beam is approximately 120.

Photograph makes the light appear brighter than it really is.
Intensity is 2,030mcd at a forward current (If) of 26mA.
Remember, wider viewing angles always equal
lower mcd values, and this LED has a VERY wide beam.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.99 volts across this LED.

Oval 5mm Red LED, $0.05, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L763HURC-A
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04, tested 08-31-04)

This is an oval or "cat's eye" 5mm LED in a water-clear epoxy case.
The light it outputs is a vivid, very slightly orangish red with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 625-635nm.

The beam that comes out of this LED consists of a wide, somewhat annular oval-shaped hotspot, surrounded by a dim corona. This is a beam configuation I have not encountered before, so I have no basis with which to perform a comparative analysis.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the beam is approximately 50 wide by approximately 25 to 30 tall.

Intensity is 2,320mcd at a forward current (If) of 26mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.29 volts across this LED.

Auto (Piranha) High-Flux Red LED, $0.17, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L945VEC6C-AHV
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04 tested 08-31-04)

This is a high-flux 4-lead LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

Here's a look at the LED itself.
One of the corners of the LED package is slightly cut off; this indicates the leads on that side are cathodes (-).

The light it outputs is a slightly orangish red, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 623-629nm. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED is wide, and consists of an annular (doughnut-shaped), circular hotspot, surrounded by a slightly dimmer penumbra. This is fairly typical of high-flux LEDs in flattish, square packages with four leads.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the central hotspot is approximately 15 wide, surrounded by a penumbra that's approximately 60 to 70 wide.

Light is significantly less orangish than this photograph makes it appear.
Intensity is 1,740mcd at a forward current (If) of 53mA.
Remember, wider viewing angles always equal lower mcd values.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.47 volts across this LED at 53mA.

Auto (Piranha) High-Flux Yellow LED, $0.15, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., L945VY3C
(No minimum order required)
(Received 08-25-04 tested 08-31-04)

This is a high-flux 4-lead LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

Here's a look at the LED itself.
One of the corners of the LED package is slightly cut off; this indicates the leads on that side are cathodes (-).

The light it outputs is a slightly amberish yellow, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 583-587nm.

Light is significantly less orangish than this photograph makes it appear.
Intensity is 1,640mcd at a forward current (If) of 53mA.
Remember, wider viewing angles always equal lower mcd values.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.46 volts across this LED at 53mA.

All 3mm, 5mm, 8mm, and 10mm Hebei I.T. Shanghai Co. Ltd. LEDs were powered with a Hosfelt Electronics LED tester, outputting a known current of 26mA from the receptacles the LEDs were tested in.
High-flux ("spider") LEDs were powered with a Mid-Eastern variable voltage, current-clamping power supply, with the current set to the individual LED under test.

Do you manufacture or sell an LED flashlight, task light, utility light, or module of some kind? Want to see it tested by a real person, under real working conditions? Do you then want to see how your light did? If you have a sample available for this type of real-world, real-time testing, please contact me at ledmuseum@gmail.com.

Please visit this web page for contact information.

Unsolicited flashlights appearing in the mail are welcome, and it will automatically be assumed that you sent it in order to have it tested and evaluated for this site.
Be sure to include contact info or your company website's URL so visitors here will know where to purchase your product.
