Putt Tracer (light-up golf balls for putting), retail $27.95* (www.twilighttracer.com...)
Manufactured by Sun Products (www.sunproductsusa.com)
Last updated 10-26-10

The Putt Tracers are golf balls specifically intended to be used on the putting green of a golf course; although they look a lot like ordinary golf balls, the Putt Tracers light up & blink when lightly struck with your putter (a golf club meant for use on the putting green to get your golf ball in the cup (hole)).

They flash blue, green, or yellow - the flashing color matches the color of the ball itself.

Because they flash, they are specifically intended to be used after sunset when it might be a bit too dark to play golf (putt) with your regular golf balls. You may use Twilight Tracers for the "long game" (driving) - they work a lot like Putt Tracers but are designed to be hit off the tee and throughout the fairway - much harder than the Putt Tracers anyway.

* The $27.95 price is for three golf balls; this equates to a price of ~$9.32 apiece.

 SIZE

To use the Putt Tracers, just replace the golf ball you were using before when you reach the putting green (put a marker down before you swap balls if necessary). The ball will begin flashing at once when it is gently struck with your putter (a golf club specifically intended to be used only on the putting green - much like the Putt Tracer golf balls themselves).

This flashing lasts for exactly 289 seconds (4 minutes 49 seconds) and then it automatically turns itself off. Yes, I timed this on a clock with a second hand on it.
This gives you plenty of time to line up your next putt if you didn't get the ball in the hole (cup) the first time around...or the second time...or the third time...damn just bogeyed the hole!!!

The Putt Tracers appear to be a disposable product, therefore, I do not have to tell you which part to remove, gently place on the green, stomp on with spiked golf shoes, kick into the water hazard, and then rather emphatically tell you not to.

Battery life is advertised as 40 hours (flashing time).

These are light-up golf balls intended for playing the "short game" (on the putting green) in the game of golf, not flashlights meant to be carried around, thrashed, trashed, and abused, so I won't try to drown them in the toliet tank, bash them against a steel rod or against the concrete floor of a patio, let my housemate's citty kats go to the litterbox on them, run over them with a 450lb Celebrity motorised wheelchair, stomp on them, use a large claw hammer in order to smash them open to check them for candiosity, fire them from the cannoņata, drop them down the top of Mt. Erupto (I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piņata" too much again (yes, I watched four episodes just yesterday morning!!!) - candiosity is usually checked with a laser-type device on a platform with a large readout (located at Piņata Central), with a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or with a pack-of-cards-sized device that Fergy Fudgehog uses; the cannoņata (also located at Piņata Central) is only used to shoot piņatas to piņata parties away from picturesque Piņata Island, and Mt. Erupto is an active volcano on Piņata Island {In the episode "Les Saves the Day...Again", Paulie Preztail says "Hey, ever wonder why this park's called 'Mount Erupto' anyway?", then Franklin Fizzlybear says "I think its an old native term. Means 'very safe.'"}), send them to the Daystrom Institute for additional analysis, or perform other indecencies on these cute & loveable little golf balls that flashlights might have to have performed on them. So this section of the web page about the Putt Tracers flashing golf balls will be ***SIGNIFICANTLY*** more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

The Putt Tracers appear to be sensitive enough that they will flash when struck only very lightly with your putter - if the ball is just a matter of several inches from the cup, they will reliably start flashing when you hit them - you need not strike the Putt Tracers hard to activate them - that simply isn't necessary.

Although the batteries cannot be changed, there is no real reason to dispose of the Putt Tracers when the batteries poop out; just use them during the daylight hours when this occurs.

My artificial cup ("hole") has already been packed away for a
move to occur around 07-15-08, so it is not shown in this clip.

This is with the artificial cup.
I was surprised to have made two of the putts, considering that I had one hand holding the camera and one holding the golf club.

Most of the room illumination was off so that the Putt Tracers would be more visible.

This is a video on YourTube showing the Putt Tracers in action.
As you can see, I played rather miserably here. ;-)

I know it really doesn't matter here, but I used a Tiger Shark putter (golf club) that I purchased in Seattle WA.
USA in late-2004 to play along with the pricing game "Hole in One or Two" on the TV game show The Price is Right.

Here's the golf club I used.
In this photograph, a blue Putt Tracer ball can be seen near the club face.

TEST NOTES:
Test units (they only come in sets of three) were purchased on the Twilight Tracer website on 06-03-08, and after a mistake by UPS and a reshipment by Sun Products on 06-23-08 (along with a gift from them to help compensate for the error!!! ), they were received at 2:21pm PDT on 06-27-08.

Product was made in Taiwan.
A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I published it on this web page.

UPDATE: 04-29-09
I have decided to rate this product 4― Stars and place it in The Trophy Case on this website!!!
The only reason it did not receive a five star rating is because the batteries cannot be changed when they go down the tube.

PROS:
Very unique product - nothing like it that I'm aware of!
Size and weight is that of a regulation golf ball

CONS:
Batteries cannot be changed
